The candle.
While in Hawaii, I was sent on a quest to get a candle for Nima... its one of the two things he remembers seeing on a childhood trip to Hawaii (that and watching "Gremlins"). Mind you I've never seen one of these candles before - all I was told was that they are dipped in multiple colors and that they come in funny shapes. Off I went...
First stop was Big Kahuna's market.... this looked both promising and authentic:
did i say authentic? i meant very authentic.
in order to blend in better with the locals, i decided to grab some free cotton candy....
sadly there were no candles to be found here. i hit up keith (in4mation) to see where i would be able to find some, and he suggested the international market - fairly touristy as well but he figured we might have more luck there. he and i took a walk over...
after wandering around for a bit, look what we found.
Uh, so this is what Nima meant by "funny shapes." I thought he was looking for something more geoduck-like.
Of course, the dude selling them was playing us for fools. We asked if he was the only guy selling these joints and he said "yeah." Whatever. We took a walk to find some better priced options.
Sexytime.
After rounding a corner, look what we found... (that liar)
I put the order in and came back to pick up the custom piece the next day. Here it is, complete with the DG website color scheme and all:
Jyeah.
