the ART of the matter
This just in from CI of No Mas fame...
October greetings,
Tomorrow Friday October 27th will be the 20th anniversary of the Mets series clinching victory in the 1986 fall classic. In honor of this momentous occasion, we will be having a small gathering at Classic Kicks on Elizabeth Street between Houston and Bleecker. We invite you to join us from seven to nine PM.
Highlights will include the unveiling of a new work by James Blagden and a special musical performance and blessing for the lost souls of '86 by the Reverend Vince Anderson.
There is also an installation up at the store featuring highlights from last fall's gallery show, James Blagden's originals from the illustrated history of drugs and sports, a sneak preview of Tyson artist Mickey Duzyj's new skateboards, and a case full of artifacts from my '86 Mets collection.
Brooklyn Brewery is kindly providing refreshments.
If you would like to join us, please RSVP to:
admin@nomas-nyc.com
I hope to see you there.
All the best,

Almost here...
Yesterday David from HighSnob posted a sneak preview of 3sixteen's Winter collection, which is set to drop on 11/1. How soon you, valued consumer, will be able to cop it on DG.com will purely be a function of how quickly John and team can take pictures and write up witty descriptions for all the goods. Now, I'm told that they're pretty fast... but are also currently drowning under piles of clothing that also needs to get posted (have you seen the heat that's been dropping recently? Ridiculous.) Rest assured that they are busting their butts - I'm sure it'll launch very soon after the drop. Also, I have this really bad tendency to ramble. So let me just give you guys the link so you can check the Winter line out for yourselves. Click here.

Bodega (Beantown)
Retail stores are pretty much all the same deal to me except for the interior design and maybe how nice the staff are. Ok fine, product selection matters too...but really there are very few noteworthy "street wear boutiques" that i can think of. Bodega in Boston are the exception to that rule. As you can see from Andrew 3sixteen's excellent photo below, from the exterior the store appears to be a standard bodega (of the variety you can find on any NYC block). You can even go in there and by a can of coke and leave, and never know that in the back hides one of Boston's premier boutiques - purveyors of fine street wear and sneakers. I haven't been there yet but I've read a ton about these guys and my homie D in Boston has been in there and had great things to say. I was in need of some good pictures of the spot and Andrew solved all that with his big...camera. He paid them a visit this weekend and took some great photos and describes the spot really well so click the pic to head over to the 3sixteen site for the rest of the deal.

fun for the kiddies..
Throw out your Risk sets.. move aside Monopoly.. there's a new player in town... this is the takeover.
here's what its all about:
"The goal of War on Terror, the boardgame is to liberate the world, ridding it of fear and terrorism forever. Naturally, only the biggest and strongest Empires are up to this task and so a certain amount of dominance needs to be shown. Alternatively, you can play as the terrorists, fighting for a world without empires."
just a bit of harmless fun really...

Puffy likes 10DEEP...
...enough that he apparently had his designers bite this design for his Sean John fall collection!! Kinda craze...anyway I can't take any credit for this...I found it on hypebeast and that looks to have been copied off the 10DEEP website, so click the pic for the link to the thread itself to see what hypebeast community is saying...
Sneak Peek: TBG - Hand Picked Cotton
We're just about to launch the first new collection from TBG here on DG...and we hope y'all are ready for some serious heat. The collection merges top notch cut & sew & design skills with themes based on America's controversial history of slavery and the ensuing social movement towards civil rights, highlighting some of the key attitudes and key players along the way. You'll see! TBG’s creator and veteran designer Adrian A. who founded the brand Too Black Guys way back in 1990, has gone out on a limb with this new brand, making powerful statements about history and society within his collection. Incase you're too young to remember, Too Black Guys was a quick hit amongst the hip-hop community with supporters such as Ice Cube, A Tribe Called Quest, Mary J. Blige, and director Spike Lee. The line had 10 successful years and 2 boutiques one in Toronto, and the other in New York until, Adrian felt it was time to move on. Adrian then became design director for Ecko ultd. and more notably the design director at Canada’s leading lifestyle brand, Roots. In regards to TBG: Hand Picked Cotton, he stated that, “I am hoping to bring a balance back to streetwear, When you are selling messages in your garments, your garments have to be at least as strong as the messages." The cut & sew skills flexed here are unparalleled and even the t-shirts are original cut & sew garments...Adrian states, “TBG is a collection that combines the sentiment of the early nineties with the best of today’s style.” The first delivery will be available at premium retailers such as Union NYC, Fred Segal, Reed Space, Grey One, Pieces, and Digital Gravel - that's us! Click the pic for a link to a sneak peek movie from TBG!
