Speaking of Some Kind of Misunderstanding, there is a singer with a beard named Andrew Thompson. Some of his music is hilarious awesome. The video for his song There Must Be Some Kind of Misunderstanding was mostly filmed in the neighborhood that the DG office was in when we were still in New York City. So basically, we like, made this video.

I put myself onto Dating on Demand one night when I was alone in a big house, and getting to know this newfangled Comcast cable system we'd had installed. This profile was the first one that I watched, and I immediately knew I'd be watching a lot more of these.

A lot of the profiles are tedious and boring but Nimaneems, Wally and the rest of the crew can back me up, we caught some real kneeslappers. I only wish that by describing them, you'd be in on the joke, but you and I both know by this point, I'm not that funny. You just gotta tune in for yourself.

I was living out of range of Columbia University's W-KCR 89.9 radio station, in the early 90's, and specifically their groundbreaking & legendary hip-hop mix show, "The Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show." I was living in Japan at the time, and the only two decent ways to stay up on hip-hop were a) The Source Magazine (remember, they hadn't gone completely down the drain at that point) and b) tapes of this radio show. The show was so popular, even in Japan, that cats would fly to NY to tape the Saturday night shows, and fly back to Japan and sell the bootlegs in small clothing stores around the country. I loved it. I still got some of the tapes hidden away somewhere. So anyway it literally made my day when I found out that Stretch Armstrong's blog has mp3 rips of the show you can stream or download. I found the link here (these guys never fail me) and they found it here. Thanks fam. Even if I had to use my AK, I'd still have to say that today was a good day.

I hate everything about 50 cent. From his music to his face. The mere thought of his voice has ruined activities I once found enjoyable, like partying like it's my birthday, and window shopping. And then today, the best newspaper on the planet, the New York Post, told me that Fiddy wrote some books so I might be changing my tune. I shoulda knew something was up when I saw this picture and didn't vom.

Which is precicely the kind of literary ignorance I'm feelin right now.

Ages 10-16 my hairy fucking ass. This shit is no joke. So the black #12 axle is still MIA, but I was able to work around it and finish the nose section and cockpit pod, complete with working suspension, struts, steering rack, all that. The axle has been ebayed and is inbound from the UK. Hopefully tonight I can bang out the rear wing. I will update you all tomorrow as I know you are glued to your monitors in anticipation. Being that Gonz! is up on DG today, I thought I would share some party flicks. Bashment jumped last week. Sorry you missed it. We went through alot of alcohol... I mean like Nicholas Cage Leaving Las Vegas steez son. I cannot confirm nor deny if Brook Hogan and Keerstin Dunst were in the house, but I can confirm that Nima Neems and Dick Klotz had a googly eyed contest. Dick went bugged out while Neems opted for his usual squinty. I never thought I would hear a DJ genuinely inquire "Is Malibu in this motherfucker?!" followed by a genuine and enthusiastic reply of Hell YEaaaahhhh!!!" But it happened... I was there.

I loved Nima's story about the giant and the dolphin. It made me think of the movie Big Fish, and then that dude Jonah from the Bible who got swallowed by the whale, and then James and the Giant Peach and then Innerspace, and then I remembered that I saw Meg Ryan on the street yesterday and she totally looked like crap. And although the story of the giant and the whale was uplifting and sweet unfortunately the rest of the Animalia Chordata Mamalia Cetacia Odontoceti Delphinidae in China are not off the hook. Today, the baji, a rare and nearly blind white dolphin native to the Yangtze river has been declared functionally extinct. The baiji dates back 20 million years, and the Chinese called it the "goddess of the Yangtze" which basically means it's China's Sophia Loren, and that makes me sad, cuz I really liked Grumpier Old Men. And dolphins. So Flippers, if you're reading the internet or having it read to you, pour some out for your homies that ain't here no more. Or blow some out, whatever you dolphins do.

In continued animal news, I read about an Australian man who pulled a 7 foot python out of a septic tank. Talk about a toilet snake! I of course had to google image "toilet snake", cuz that's the kind of thing I do, and I was just hoping I wouldn't find tons of pictures of giant turds, like on ratemypoo.com. And I didn't. But I was led to a bunch more stories about snakes being found in toilets, including this one about a woman who got bit by a water moccasin hiding in her toilet, and that is freaking terrifying. So then I thought about that scene in Poltergeist II where the kid is on the toilet, and his braces come alive and grow out of his mouth and tie him to the toilet, and although they're both scary terrible, I can't decide what's worse. So here's that picture I was talking about. Sweet dreams, and watch yer crack.

Wait loser... hear me out. Yes, the world sucks. Hard. But once in a while you read a story like this, snatched straight out of an 80's cartoon and you go "this bottle of sleeping pills can wait til tomorrow, whats the rush?".

So these dolphins in China were eating plastic bits off the side of their tank, and then got sick. I know what you're thinking, what the funk is wrong with those damn dolphins eating plastic? Relax, hot shot, they thought it was fish. Anyfin, the dolphin-doctors tried to remove the plastic from the dolphin-tummies with dolphin-surgical tools, but they dolphin-failed. So someone comes up with the ILL ASS IDEA of caling the world's tallest man, on account of his 41.7inch arms, and seeing how he felt about saving flipper's life. He felt yes... and then... he reached in... pulled out the plastic... and saved the damn dolphins.

And that, my friends, is why i will not kill myself today.

A few people have asked us what our "New York Robbery" tee is all about. If you're from NY, you'll probably recognize the design as a flip on the popular NY State Lotto logo. (The tagline on our shirt says "All you need is a dollar and a delusion" - the original motto is "All you need is a dollar and a dream.")

We dont usually go too far out of our way to explain tshirt meanings but we felt like this was an important one to discuss. What we were trying to get at are the supposed benefits that state lottery systems claim to provide to society, and the actual ills they perpetuate. Without going into too much detail - state lottery systems were first instituted in 1964 (New Hampshire was the first) as a means of raising money for education. They were viewed as a better alternative to increasing taxes across the board, since participation in lotteries is voluntary. Since then, it's become startlingly clear through numerous studies that not only do lotteries fail to provide any measurable benefits to school systems, they also target the very demographics that the educational reforms are supposed to benefit the most: low-income families.

First, lets talk about the lack of benefits. In a study from Money Magazine, it's been found that states without lotteries actually spend a greater percentage of their budget on education. Further, since 1990, spending devoted to education has actually decreased in lottery states, while increasing in non-lottery states during the same period (source). Some have suggested that lottery proceeds that are earmarked for education programs may actually just be replacing the original state-budgeted education money that has been funneled off into other mysterious programs - thus, the money is technically going towards schools but the quality of education is not increasing.

Secondly, lotteries have been proven time and time again to target low-income families, thus negating any positive societal benefits they claim to bring. Vishal Gehrig of the University of Maryland states: "A study of lottery play among income classes in Maryland found that adults in the under $10,000 income group spent nearly three times more than those earning $50,000 or more. (In fact, twenty percent of players account for sixty-five percent of the total amounts wagered, and ten percent of players account for half.)" (source). He's not the only one that has found this - countless other studies continually prove that because of large marketing budgets and false claims of jackpots and odds, state lottery systems target and get money from the people who need it the most, thereby cultivating gambling addictions among the poorest segment of the population.

Sorry if this was too much reading, but I hope this gives a bit more insight into what we were trying to get at with this design. It wasn't meant to be just another logo flip.

I'm a bit of a biology geek, so when there is a program on any of the Discovery Network channels, like "The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off," "Born Without A Face," "I Am My Own Twin," "The Girl Who Turned To Stone," or "Manar's Story: Born With Two Heads" I immediately stop channel surfing toward My Super Sweet Sixteen, and watch in surgical shocking awe. And I know I'm not the only one because after viewing what has become one of my favorites, the joint about Novemthree, the boy with a tumor for a face, I came into the office talking about it, and ColorNinja was equally excited about the ill amounts of tumor shaving, bone scraping, flesh removal, and reshaping as I was. Novemthree's expressed joy from finally being able to see again was infectious. Plus his name was dope. He kind of became our hero. He unfortunately passed away in 2005, but I will never forget his story. Or his face. Before (seen above), or after.

So you've probably seen this girl Marlie Cassius from Haiti, who suffers from a similar disorder, leaving her with the ill tumerous blobbular grill. Over the past year she has undergone 4 surgeries to remove her 16 pound face-tooth and give her some semblance of a normal life. In my dreams, She and Novemthree would meet at some giant get together like twins and kids with Progeria do on Maury, and she would become Novemthree's girlfriend, and they would spoon each other and whisper stories in broken french and indonesian to each other about slowly watching their faces become distended like balloons, and maybe they'd even have little petnames like "gummy bear"and "hippo face"for each other. To make up for the bum cards they were dealt, the heavenly skies would part, and karma would bless them with a baby girl and she would be totally normal, and perfect, and beautiful, and she would become an exotic Indohatianesian supermodel, and the whole world, at war for natural resources would pause, and squash the fighting due to her unbelieveable beauty and we would finally achieve world peace as all people and nations turn their attention to being on her friggin jock. Dreams.
So cheers to Marlie and her new face. I only hope she doesn't become caught up on the fact that they've made her new mouth look just like an anus.

In other face news, Isabelle Dinore, the French woman who had the face transplant is flossin her new grill as well. I'm into pictures, so here's her face. I think she looks like a cross between this girl I used to be friends with and Stockard Channing.

She is gaining more motility and sensitivity in her immigrant flesh, after her indiginous casing twice tried to deport it. Doctors put the nay-no on that damie sty with immuno depressants. But I could swear I read that she immediately went back to smoking cigarettes after recieving the new face, so even though it's working out for her, I kinda think fuck her. I watch Nip/Tuck. I know you're not supposed to smoke after surgery on some I'm gonna vasoconstrict like an anaconda shit. Do like Ice Cube and "quit playin!"

Nimaneems found this album for sale on ebay months ago, and I found it so amusing that I keep checking back to see if someone has bought it now for the low low price of $49.98.
Sadly, I don't think anyone ever will. I have to say I was also intrigued by the high price, and that lead me to investigate this particular ebay seller's store. That and this featured MC Hammer gangsta rap album, featuring a song written by 2pac, listed at the bargain basement price of $398.98!

Like a gift from god, my voracious appetite for all things naughty and ludicrous was briefly sated as I browsed this ebay store. There's a rumor going around that the lord giveth, and the lord taketh. And I'm not saying I'm the lord or anything, I just wanted an awkward way to say "here's what I found!"

Have you ever sent anything through a wood chipper or industrial shredder? It's fantastic. One day this summer, I helped send a ton of trees and some rarely chipped items like a box of doughnuts, perfectly good fruits and vegetables, and a jug of apple cider through a shredder. HAMBURG, Germany - German customs officers have seized what they said could be the world's largest haul of counterfeit goods, including nearly 1 million pairs of knockoff Nike sneakers.
The customs department in the northern port of Hamburg said it had confiscated a total of 117 shipping containers filled with fake goods since the end of August.

The equivalent amount of genuine branded goods would be worth about 383 million euros ($490 million), it said in a statement.

The goods included 101 containers loaded with 945,384 pairs of counterfeit Nike sneakers, and 10 more containers with about 105,000 pairs of fake Adidas and Puma sports shoes. Also impounded were 76,760 knockoff watches and 1,454 toys.

The goods were shipped to Hamburg from Asia and were destined for recipients at addresses — some of them fictitious — in Italy, Austria and Hungary.

The customs department said it was up to brand-name holders such as Nike Inc. to take further legal steps against the suspected smugglers.

Contractors have begun shredding the estimated 1,500 tons of shoes and textiles and trucking the waste to incineration facilities for disposal.

Forty-three of the containers were seized in September as part of a coordinated sweep on counterfeit smugglers in 15 of Europe's major ports.

"Based on the overall value and the number of counterfeit items seized in the 117 containers, this could be the largest counterfeit seizure worldwide," the statement said.

So we show up to work this morning and discover that the street has been closed off and, much like something outta the X-Files, there are men in white plastic biohazard type suits running all over the place. We soon noticed that there had been a gigantic explosion on the street right outside our office/warehouse! Fun! Keep in mind, a brand new Ford Explorer spontaneously caught fire in front of our previous office last year, so we're starting to feel like we just help stuff blow up, and not only clothing brands. The entire street is burned silly, half the tree across the road went up in smoke, and the little plants in the garden by our parking spots are crazy fried too. From across the road! It even made the local news where there's a video for you to watch. Basically a diesel tanker had to swerve to avoid a stray dog, and ran smack into a pretty big electrical generator that's across the road from our office. So this is basically a collaboration between high voltage electricity and a spilled load of diesel fuel. Bye bye truck, bye bye generator! Luckily the driver and his passenger survived (we heard they died at first). No word on the dog yet...click this pic for the link to the news story and the streaming video:

If you live in the United States and you own a working television, you could hardly have missed the tragic news that the great Ed Bradley (60 Minutes) passed away last week. All the enthralling retrospectives of the man's work only serve to highlight the fact that Ed's unfailing sense of humanity and knack for highlighting the plight of the underdog are exactly what's missing in today's news reporting. It's only now that the Republicans are on the way out that normal news folk are highlighting the unhappy side of the war in Iraq. Or that they totally messed up in New Orleans. What's up with that? Shame on you TV newspeople...sorry I just felt like a rant was in order here. Oh yeah and while I'm ranting, what's up with dbthb??? It seems that they're reduced to mostly ripping on things that Bobby 100s has covered. Seriously, check some other blogs for inspiration once in a while...and if you can't even crack a decent joke about our little subculture then you serve no purpose whatsover. you're boring. you need some good writers - I can recommend several so hit me up and don't play indie - we know you got that nice corporate budget. ok rant over now.
